QInsight and QFW SDK licensing

QInsight is offered under three licenses: Free for personal non-commercial use, Trial for evaluation in an organization, and Commercial at a fixed yearly price per computer. The QFW SDK for your device firmware is part of the QInsight license.

Commercial license

Price and purchase

€825 per year and computer

Czech customers CZK 20,000. QENEX s.r.o. is not registered for VAT; the price is final. EU companies with a valid VAT ID are invoiced under reverse charge.

How to buy

  1. At account.qenex.net, fill in your organisation's billing details and choose the number of computers in the Buy section.
  2. Pay by card (the license is active immediately) or by bank transfer against an invoice due in 14 days (the license is activated once the payment is credited).
  3. You receive the license key by e-mail and also find it in your account together with the invoice. Download the QInsight installer (the QFW SDK is part of it) in the Downloads section of your account.

Licenses do not renew automatically; we remind you by e-mail and in the application before expiry. You renew the same way in your account; the license key stays the same.

Schools and research

Academic license

Secondary schools, universities and public research institutions receive four additional computers free of charge with one purchased Commercial license. Five computers therefore cost €825 per year (CZK 20,000 for Czech customers).

Who it is for

  • Secondary schools, universities, institutes of national academies of sciences and other public research institutions.
  • For non-commercial research and teaching. Contract research for companies and spin-off companies use the standard Commercial license.

What you get

  • QInsight on five computers of your department, without limits — the same scope as the Commercial license, including the QFW SDK and updates during the license term.
  • You distribute the computers as needed: among laboratories, experiments or groups of one department.

How to get it

  1. Register at account.qenex.net with your institutional e-mail address. You can first evaluate QInsight for 60 days with a Trial license.
  2. Buy one Commercial license for one computer in your account.
  3. From your institutional address, e-mail info@qenex.net the name of your department and what you use QInsight for.
  4. Within two working days we add a second license for four computers, with the same license term, to your account.

The department has two license keys: one for the first computer and one for the other four. When you renew the purchased license, we extend the free license for the same term. For a sixth and further computers the same procedure applies again: another purchased license, another four computers.

What "computer" means

One license = QInsight on one physical computer. A license can be moved to another computer in the portal (e.g. when replacing a laptop). Running one license on several computers at once, in virtual machines or via remote access is not permitted.

QFW SDK in the license

The QFW SDK is the same for every license: source code, no activation key, no time limit, part of the QInsight installation.

The limit lives in QInsight, not in the SDK: with Free and Trial it measures for 30 minutes per start and then returns to edit mode by itself. The compiled engine may be distributed only as part of the firmware of your own product; the sources are not redistributed.

Offline activation

For computers with no internet at all (test benches, isolated networks) the Commercial license offers offline activation: request it from us, then copy the machine code from QInsight, generate an activation code in the portal and paste it back.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the Free license at work?
No — Free is for personal, educational and non-commercial use by an individual only. Companies use Trial, then Commercial.
Do you offer a license for schools, universities and research institutes?
Yes. Secondary schools, universities and public research institutions receive four additional computers free of charge with one purchased Commercial license — see the Academic license section. Students and individuals can use the Free license for their own non-commercial work.
What if the internet period lapses?
The license temporarily stops being valid; once connected it recovers on its own.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Your account at account.qenex.net is where licenses are issued and where you download the installer and the SDK.
Is the price per user or per computer?
Per computer. Several people may use QInsight on the same computer.
